PAINTED PAPER AND IVORY FOLDING FAN Circa 1820
Deeply carved ivory guards and pierced carved sticks depict figures and pavilions in garden settings. Double-sided paper leaf with three cartouches illustrating scenes of mandarin life on a gold foil-like background; obverse with three cartouches illustrating birds and flowers against a silver-colored background. Length 9 (20.4 cm). In a fitted lacquer box.
