Description

POLYCHROME SCRIMSHAW WHALE'S TOOTH Second Quarter of the 19th Century
Obverse depicts a bust portrait of a woman wearing a hair comb and beaded necklace with locket. Reverse depicts a bust portrait of a young woman holding a flower and wearing a beaded necklace with cross. Portraits with foliate surrounds. Both edges decorated with a stone column. Polychrome flowers and hearts interspersed throughout. Length 5.75."

Condition

Tooth with some chipping at lower edge. Age crack on each side.
