FOUR WHALEBONE OR WHALE IVORY ITEMS Mid-19th Century
1) Whale ivory cane segment comprised of a turned barrel-form handle and a portion of an octagonal shaft. Carved E.W. Davis, CambridgePort" on shaft. Length 8.25". 2-3) Two sailor-made straight edges, one in whalebone and one wooden with whale ivory ends. Lengths 13.5". 4) Dipper with coconut shell bowl and whalebone shaft with ebony band. Bowl with carved decoration of flags, two ships and an eagle with banner displaying the Columbian motto "Libertad Y Orden". Length 12.75"."
