Description

ANTIQUE AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE CHEST-ON-CHEST Philadelphia, Circa 1780
In walnut. Upper case with removable cornice with broken arch, central plinth with elaborately carved finial, and dentil molding to lower edge and the side risers to height of arch. Upper case with carved fluted quarter columns flanking three narrow drawers over two narrow drawers over three graduated full-width drawers. Lower case with carved fluted quarter columns flanking two narrow drawers over three graduated full-width drawers. Bold ogee bracket feet. Retains period hardware, probably original. Height 96. Width 42". Depth 23".

Condition

Old refinish. Several foot facings have had minor restorations. Otherwise good condition. The finial looks like Thomas Affleck,is original but the caes does not seem ornate enough to be of the same hand.
