EXQUISITE PIERCED IVORY BRISÉ FAN Canton, Circa 1770
Intricately pierced design of birds and scrolling vines surround three cartouches, the central one being shield shaped and illustrating a painted scene. Length 10. See Neville John Irons' book, Fans of Imperial China, page 74 for similar example.

One guard is broken cleanly and could be repaired. Needs ribbon tightened. Otherwise in excellent condition, including the painting on the central cartouche.
