PAPER AND CARVED IVORY MANDARIN FAN Chinese, Early 19th Century
The double-sided paper leaf illustrated with numerous figures with ivory faces and silk clothing holding fans in pavilions. Beautifully pierced and carved ivory sticks and guards in a similar theme. Brass floriform washer and shaped loop from which a double silk tassel in red and green is suspended. Length 10.75. In fitted black and gold lacquer-decorated box.

Condition

One guard with slight pinkish stain (?); slight wear to folds of leaf. Overall, very good condition. Some cracks to lacquer box.
