Description

BOWLBACK MANDOLIN 19th Century
One-piece mahogany neck with ebony fretboard. Eleven mother-of-pearl inlays to neck and peghead. Pickguard with mother-of-pearl inlay. Circular ivoride button with Imperial Co. Cincinnati & Crown logo (part of larger John Church Co., which controlled Royal Manufacturing Co. Instrument Maker of Cincinnati). Pat. Apl'd for peg mechanism.

Condition

Instrument mostly complete, only missing tailpiece cover and M. O. P. on body binding. 8 small M.O.P. pieces, filled in, 1 small ebony. Small tight crack on top running under pickguard. Three repaired cracks to thirty piece Rosewood back. Shell pickguard dry and lifting.
