Apple Valley Farm in October". Signed and dated lower right "Maxwell Mays '78". Typewritten on note verso: "Apple Valley in October - The whole autumn world smelled delicious, also russet and macintosh and greening and northern spy. The train was a half hour late and at Springfield they were waiting for ten barrels of freshly pressed cider".
