Description

U.S. NAVAL SWORD AND SCABBARD Post Civil War
Made by M.C. Lilley Co., Columbus, Ohio for Shannon Miller & Crane of New York, probably after 1882. Sharkskin grips with wire wraps. Etched quill-back blade inscribed J.H. Chapman" on right side. Scabbard engraved with monogram "J.H.C." John H. Chapman, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, served in the Civil War. Photocopies of his military records included with the lot. Length of blade 31".
