Description

FIVE-PIECE TIFFANY & CO. MIXED METAL SMOKING SET New York, 1902-07
Includes a rectangular tray, length 14, a cigar holder, height 4.25", a cigarette holder, a lighter and an ovoid tray. In copper mounted with sterling silver ram's heads, oak leaves and acorns along rims. All monogrammed "HRO" and numbered "16004-7235".
Provenance: From the consignor: "Herbert Roe Odell (1880-1957) was the son of Benjamin B. Odell., Jr., Governor of New York from 1901-04. The set was left to me by his wife Pauline Ramsdell Odell through my mother Pauline Odell Mathewson.""

Condition

Large tray and cigar holder with red enameled patina to undersides (cigar holder interior as well). Spots of verdigris to copper around silver mounts. All with usage wear (light abrasions, patina inconsistencies and dark spots, and pitting to copper). Copper not polished. Cigar holder with scattered dents of various sizes to body. Cigarette holder with several scattered pin prick-size dents to body. Lighter with dent just to the right of monogram and cover is very tightly screwed on.
