YACHT DORIS STERLING SILVER TROPHY AND PHOTOGRAPH Early 20th Century
Gorham trophy platter in the Plymouth" pattern engraved "New York Yacht Club Annual Cruise First Place Won by Doris 14 August 1905". Length 16.5". Approx. 33.5 troy oz. Willard B. Jackson photograph of "Doris" with studio mark lower right. 9.5" x 11.5". Framed 15.25" x 18.25".
Note: The sloop Doris was built by Nat Herreshoff for S. Reed Anthony of Boston. According to the Herreshoff Registry, she is the largest all-wood vessel ever built by Herreshoff. Framed photocopies of period newspaper articles pertaining to Doris accompany the lot."

Condition

Platter: Small, shallow dent just to the right of Doris." Scattered surface abrasions. Photograph: Good visible condition. Not examined out of frame, possibly laid down."
