Description

FRAMED MASONIC APRON Circa 1820s
In white satin with very pale blue edging and monotone printed decoration. Flap with Masonic eye above a banner Sit Lux ... Et Lux Fuit" entwined with a foliate branch. Body with scene of two large globe-topped columns flanking an arcade of columns and mosaic pavement. An altar and a "G" at center. Assorted emblems and insignia surround scene. Apron 15.75" x 17". Frame 21" x 23.5"."

Condition

Stained, particularly along eding and at top of apron flap. Toned and faded. Piece of black tulle framed with apron obscuring decoration on flap. Not examined out of frame.
