(LITERATURE AND POETRY)
First printings of the Snopes trilogy by William Faulkner. 1) The Hamlet. N.Y.: Random House, 1940. Pictorial title page. O. Black cloth with red lettering and short gold rules. Top edges stained red. Dj with moderate wear and chipping and three corners shaved, but $2.50 price still intact. Excerpts from the First Reviews" on rear panel of Dj. Owner's signature in ink on front endpaper. Ink smear on lower corner of page edges. Light foxing on edges of late pages.
2) The Town. N.Y.: Random House, 1957, 1957. Repeating line on p. 327 indicative of first state or other early printing. O. Red cloth with gold lettering and short gray rules. Dj with only very slight wear at heal of spine; $3.95 price and "5/57" still intact. Small discoloration on lower corner of page edges, otherwise no other mars or damages noted.
3) The Mansion. N.Y.: Random House, 1955, 1959. O. Blue cloth with gold lettering and short gray rules. Dj with moderate wear, particularly at crown and heal of spine; $4.75 price and "10/59" still intact. Pen mark on top of page edges and very small discoloration on lower corner of page edges, otherwise no other mars or damages noted."
