Document signed by Francis Bernard in his capacity as Captain General and Governor in Chief of His Majesty's Province of the Massachusetts Bay". Appoints Peter Norton of Dukes County to the position of Major in the Duke's County Militia. Dated October 8, 1761. Countersigned by Jonathan Cotton. 12.5" x 15.75" sight. Framed 15" x 18".
