A Proclamation. By the President of the United States of America. Whereas the Congress of the United States have this day Resolved, 'That it be Recommended to the People of the United States to assemble on the twenty-second day of February next, in such numbers and manner, as may be convenient, publickly to testify their Grief for the Death of Gen. George Washington ...". Signed in print by President John Adams and Secretary of State Timothy Pickering. Lower section conveys the Commonwealth of Massachusetts January 14, 1800 Senate resolution on the "Sublime Virtues of Gen. George Washington". Approved and signed in print by Lieutenant-Governor Moses Gill. Printed by Young and Minns, Printers to the State. 17" x 13.25".
