Obverse depicts a Hawaiian woman (Wahinee") wearing a grass skirt seated in the jungle. Woman is flanked by tall palm trees with fronds that extend to the tip and reverse of the tooth. Reverse depicts a woman on horseback wearing a plumed hat and long robe. Castle and mountains in the distance. Entire work executed in moss green. Length 6.25".
A similar tooth by Hiliott is illustrated in Ingenious Contrivances, Curiously Carved by Stuart M. Frank (Boston: David R. Godine, 2012), figs. 3.13a and 3:13b.
