DUTCH TALL-CASE CLOCK Holland, Circa 1725
Case with burled mahogany veneer finish. Arched hood with three brass urn-form finials, glazed dial door and flat column corners with gilt capitals. Arched pendulum door. Bombay base section with bracket feet. Face marked Daye Barker Royal Exchange, London" (creator of works). Brass dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture. Embossed corner cartouches. On-Off chime dial top left marked in Dutch "Schlag-Nicht Schlag". Carol selector dial top right. Music works missing. Lunette with painted scene of a windmill in a landscape; the windmill's arms are movable. Contains pendulum and two brass weights. Overall height 96.5". Width of clock case 22.5"."
