RARE FEDERAL TALL-CASE CLOCK BY JOSHUA WILDER Hingham, Massachusetts, Circa 1800
In mahogany. Bonnet top with nicely pierced fret between three plinths, each supporting a brass ball and spire finial. Full carved reeded columns flank dial door. Painted Roman numeral dial signed Joshua Wilder, Hingham", with basket of fruit at crest, gilded urns at corners, second sweep and inset calendar. Case with cock-bead molded door flanked by brass-capped reeded quarter columns. Checkered banded inlay across bottom edge of lower panel. Door and lower panel with wonderful flame mahogany veneer. French splayed feet. Height 86.5". Width 18.5".
