FOUR PRO-DEMOCRATIC-REPUBLICAN PAMPHLETS Election of 1808
1) Address of the Republicans of the City and County of New-York, to Their Republican Fellow-Citizens of the United States. ...". (N.Y.: Frank, White, and Co., 1808.) Supports James Madison for President and endorses the Jefferson-Madison policies of the Embargo Act. 2) "The Whole Truth. To the Freemen of New-England." Signed "Hancock" and dated November 1, 1808. Probably written by Jonathan Russell. Attacks on Charles C. Pinckney, Federalist candidate for President. 3-4) Two differing copies of "An Address[,] to the People of New-England". One printed by Phinehas Allen, Pittsfield. Other lacking publication information. Written by Gideon Granger, Postmaster General under Thomas Jefferson, writing under the pseudonym "Algernon Sidney". Praises the Jefferson administration, supports the Embargo Act and calls for New England to remain part of the Union."

Condition

All exhibit scattered toning, foxing and soiling. Pages chipped or creased. Collations not verified. 1) Remnants of cover/wraps on spine. 2) Signed in ink on last page. Crude and unusually thick threads bind pages. 3) Contemporary blue cover.
