Description

IMPORTANT LETTER SIGNED BY STEPHEN HOPKINS Dated Providence, April 17, 1758
A fascinating letter written to an unknown recipient. Much of the content pertains to Hopkins's outrage over a pamphlet critical of Hopkins authored by Samuel Ward. Hopkins, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, was a ten-time governor of Rhode Island. Bold and beautiful penmanship. Three legal-size sheets.
Provenance:
Alexander Autographs, Cos Cob, Connecticut, October 17, 2005, Lot #26.
