Description

FOUR EARLY MAINE BROADSIDES 1814-1828
1) Election is at Hand." Circa 1814-1816. Addressed to the Republicans of the County of York concerning the election of Samuel Dexter for Governor and William King for Lt. Governor. King was from Bath, Maine, and would become the first Governor of Maine when it became a state separate from Massachusetts. 17.5" x 10.75". 2) "Eastern Lands. To the Honorable The Members of the Legislature of Massachusetts". Signed "A Descendant of Miles Standish". 11" x 9.5". 3) "Resolve providing for the Choice of Electors of President and Vice President." Dated February 12, 1828. Postage markings on reverse. 13" x 8.25". 4) "Penobscot County Administration Convention". Circa 1828. Supports the re-election of John Quincy Adams and others. 18.5" x 7.75" sight. Matted 24" x 12.75"."

1) Toned. Creased with some loss along fold lines. Large piece missing lower right corner. Scattered foxing. 2) Evenly toned. Some foxing. 3) Two holes on left and right from sealing wax. Other losses along fold lines. Toned and foxed. 4)
