TWO REVOLUTIONARY WAR-ERA CONNECTICUT SERMONS 1779 and 1780
1) A Sermon, Preached Before the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut, at Hartford, On the Day of the Anniversary Election, May 13, 1779. By James Dana, D.D., Pastor of the First Church in Wallingford." (Hartford: Hudson and Goodwin, 1779.) Believed to be a first edition. Dana cheers on the United States saying, "The American confederacy, from the circumstances of its' formation ... and the strength it will acquire by improvements in husbandry, manufactures and commerce, new settlements in the wilderness, other states joining the union, &c. bids fair to endure, when the power now armed against it shall be broken in pieces." 2) "A Sermon, Preached in the Audience of the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut, at Hartford, on the Day of Their Anniversary Election; May 11th, 1780. By Nathan Williams, M.A., Pastor of the Church in Tolland." (Hartford: Hudson and Goodwin, 1780.) Believed to be a first edition. A stirring sermon on American patriotic fervor."
