Description

TWO MASSACHUSETTS BROADSIDES CALLING FOR VOTES 1792 and 1802
1) Commonwealth of Massachusetts In Senate, February 9, 1795". Calls for a vote on resolutions to the state constitution. Signed in print by Samuel Phillips, Edward H. Robbins, Samuel Adams and John Avery. 15.5" x 9.25". 2) "Commonwealth of Massachusetts To the Selectmen of the Town of Greenwich in Hampshire North". Calls for a vote to elect a Representative to Congress and certifies a previous election. Dated Boston, February 13, 1802. Signed twice "John Avery Secy"; Avery was the first Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth, serving from 1780 to 1806. State seal affixed upper left corner. Inscribed "Caleb Strong" below seal, possibly the signature of the sitting governor. 14.5" x 9"."

Condition

1) Even toning. Creased along fold ines, with small loss at intersection of center fold lines and some tears along edges. Some scattered soiling, mostly concentratd on center horizontal fold line. Period inscription in ink verso. 2) Toned, most noticeably along top edge. Seal significantly faded and ruffled. Sheet creased. Scattered foxing.
