RARE CAST STEEL MINCING KNIFE Third Quarter of the 19th Century
Blade stamped Brades & Co" and handle marked "V. Doane". Retains original sheath carved "V.D." The "V.D." and "V. Doane" is for the whaling schooner Valentine Doane, which sailed out of Provincetown, Massachusetts between 1856 and 1872. Length 37".

Blade has some rusting and deterioration to edge. One wood handle has age splits and an old repair. Sheath shows wear. Some minor wood splitting.
