Description

POLYCHROME SCRIMSHAW WHALE'S TOOTH Mid-19th Century
Obverse depicts a brig at sea flying a large British ensign with red field and Union Jack in canton. Reverse depicts a whaling scene of two whaleboats attacking a sperm whale whose tail is visible. Six figures are visible in each boat, including helmsmen, rowers and harpooners. Length 5.25.
