3) "Address Before the Rhode-Island Peace Society, By Hon. Tristam Burges, June 29, 1819" (Providence: Joseph Knowles, 1849). Bound in marbled boards with a significant number of blank pages at rear.

4) "Speech of Hon. Thomas A. Jenckes, of Rhode Island, on the Bill to Regulate the Civil Service of the United States and Promote the Efficiency Thereof; Delivered in the House of Representatives, May 14, 1868." (Washington: F. & J. Rives & Geo. A. Bailey, 1868).

Original green wraps with ink presentation inscription on upper margin. Pictorial advertisement for "H.F. Carpenter, Gold and Silver Refiner and Sweep Smelter" on back cover.

Published by the Department of the Interior U.S. Geological Survey. Original wraps. Illustrated, including a colored fold-out map.

9) "Report. To the General Assembly of the State of Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations." Circa 1850. Provides a fascinating town-by-town report on the condition and services provided for the poor, insane and handicapped, with lists of asylum residents, their gender, age, birthplace, and "Cause for Poverty, and remarks".


All readable but exhibit age-typical wear, including toning, foxing, soiling, creasing, uneven edges, etc. Some exhibit evidence of water damage. Collations not verified. Original wrap or binding may be missing.

4) Title and early pages torn with some loss, but does not obscure text.
7) Embossed stamp and ink mark on cover.
8) Cover almost off. Some deterioration of wraps on spine.
9) Wraps mostly missing.
