SCRIMSHAW WHALE'S TOOTH Mid-19th Century
Obverse with a bust portrait of a man, possibly an American Native or African, wearing a distinctive feathered hat. Reverse with a half-length portrait of a seated woman. Both portraits are masterfully executed, particularly in the shading of each subject's face. Length 7."

Condition

Crack on reverse extends approx. 1.25 from base into image. Smaller age cracks on obverse. Area of discolartion in man's forehead.
