Description

SCRIMSHAW WHALE'S TOOTH Mid-19th Century
Obverse with full-length portrait of a long-haired mustachioed frontiersman resting a long gun against one leg and holding a pistol in his right hand. He is wearing a hat and tasseled cloak, and he has a knife tucked into the top of his laced boots. Reverse depicts a fort at the bend of a river, with another building and hills in the distance. Length 7. Includes wooden stand.
