Description

LOUIS VUITTON STEAMER TRUNK Early 1900s
Exterior with allover LV monograms, beechwood slats, brass locks, and metal handles and hardware. Sides with travel labels, red stripes and initials ABS" for Adele Berry Sloane (1841-1911). Interior fitted with a lift-out linen tray, straps and a covered ditty box. Original label inside marked "Louis Vuitton 1 Rue Scribe Paris 149 New Bond St. London", and with serial number 137187. Original lock, no key. Height 23". Length 21". Width 39"."

Condition

Trunk in good structural condition, with some finish issues throughout the case, most evident to the top. Old varnish with two small repairs to the right side. Sides covered in red paint, steamer labels, etc., Interior intact, top compartment on left with warped but intact base with edge wear. Some light wear to the quilting of interior top, small loss of ribbon.
