COMMEMORATIVE SILK NEEDLEWORK IN MEMORY OF MY CRUISE ..." Filipino, Dated 1923
Titled "In Memory Of My Cruise In The Hawaii Japan China & Pillipine [sic] Islands" below an arch of stars. Depicts a spread-wing eagle with arrows and an olive branch perched on an American flag on pole above an American shield and draped multi-national flags. Arched apertures, framed by Asian-style foliate designs, contain black and white photographs, one of a dramatically posed woman and the other of a man in a suit. Apertures flank an oval applied silk and threadwork panel depicting a steam/sail ship, identified as the "S.S. Dryden". Embroidered on lower margin "Ernest Kirby Jan. 1923". 24" x 19" sight. Framed 29" x 24"."
