Description

SUPERB SARCOPHAGUS-FORM WORKBOX Mid-19th Century
Probably made in Vizagapatam, India. Constructed of sandalwood, ivory, porcupine quills and buffalo horn. Ivory borders engraved with flowers and berries. Height 8. Width 12. Depth 8. Condition

Minor wear to the box: some hairline cracks to the ivory pieces and a very small amount of wear, warping and cracks two a few of the quills. Underside of base cracked. A few of the covers of the interior fittments are missing, others are slightly warped and/or cracked.
