Johann Heinrich, Reading, Penn., June 5, 1828, depicting a colorful portrait of a dragoon seated on a prancing horse and firing a flintlock pistol. Grain-painted frame. On paper, 11 x 9. Frame overall 16 x 14.
Purchased on June 23, 1961 from Doris & Thurston Thacher (The Rip Van Dam Antique Shop), Hyde Park, NY.

Minor spotting and overall toning. Some wear to the paper and slight losses to the paint, with slight alligatoring to the darker paints, e.i. the hat, main and and tail, and possible trimming to top and bottom margins though the hand-drawn margins are visible all the way around. Frame is period, not sure if it is original.
