Description

FRAMED WATERCOLOR Pennsylvania, 19th Century
Probably the cover or title page of a book. Two tulips surround Psalm 23, vs 1, Psalm of David (The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want...), above a decorated rectangular panel enclosing the Second Epistle of St. Paul to Timothy, Chapter 3:15, 16, 17 (And that from a Child thou hast Known...). Titled at bottom: This holy and sacred Bible Book is the Property of Jacob D. Pfeiffer. Written in smaller letters lower right Wrote by C.F. Seybold Oct. 29th, 1844. Paper size 10 x 7.
Another fraktur by a C.F. Seybold is known to exist. It is for Marie Hershey (b. 1822, Lancaster County, PA).

Condition

Some staining and spotting throughout, mainly to upper area of tulips. Two small marginal paper losses. Several small and mostly closed tears at bottom edge.
