ELIZA (ROBERTSON) ABRAMSE
America, 1776-1865

Fishermen at river's edge with hilly dirt road and mountainous background. Signed lower left Eliza Abramse and dated lower right February 1790. Eliza Abramse was a student of Archibald Robertson at the Columbian Academy in New York City, and they later married. Not much is known of her art career except that several pen-and-ink drawings of Shakespearean subjects are in existence. A 1794 portrait of her by her husband is at the New York Historical Society.

Some toning and minor spotting. Trimmed at top margin.
