Donald McKay's clipper 'Sovereign of the Seas' arriving at Honolulu to take on whale oil from the Pacific fleet shewing [sic] ships 'Nantucket', 'James Loper', Lagoda'". Signed lower right "Louis Dodd". Louis Dodd attended the Hastings School of Art and Goldsmith School of Art, and was awarded the Schafer Award. He worked and studied in Spain and Portugal for many years, researching and refining the 17th and 18th century historical, architectural and nautical details reflected in his work. Together with Thomas J. Coughlin's The Confederate Raiders, illustrated by Louis Dodd. Autographed by the author and illustrator.
