CHINESE EXPORT ARMORIAL PORCELAIN PLATE Circa 1725
Decorated with the coat of arms of Mertins impaling Peck. Sir George Mertins was Sheriff of Essex from 1705 and Lord Mayor of London from 1725. William Peck was of Little Samford Hall, Essex. Their son and daughter married in 1717. Diameter 8."

Condition

Hairline visible under u.v. light. Possibly lacquer spray-repaired. Wear to mostly gilt areas of the decoration.
