Description

RARE PAIR OF ROSEWOOD AND ROSE MEDALLION PORCELAIN ARMCHAIRS Circa 1840
With mother-of-pearl floral inlay. Rose medallion circular inserts to backs and rectangular inserts to seats. Height 40."

Condition

Minor wear and repair to the wood of the chairs , especially to one at both corners of front of seat where it joins the legs. This one also has an old crack to front right foot. The medallions are in good condition. The mother of pearl inlay is imperfect, with some losses, mostly to the chair with the lesser damage to wood. The chairs are not identical, the mother of pearl inlay and porcelain insets differ slightly on both.
