A selection of the manuscripts of marine surveyors of the 17th to 19th centuries from the Admiralty Hydrographic Dept. including Cook, Bligh, Vancouver, Beechey and others. 2.) Thomson, Sir C. W., The Voyage of the Challenger." Macmillan, London, 1877. 1st ed. Two vols. Eight vignettes, 168 woodcuts, 44 plates, some folding, and charts. O. Green calf . Ex-lib, embossed only on title page of Vol. 2. Lacks chart of the Atlantic and plate 38. Occasional foxing in text. Spine lightly faded, front hinge on Vol. 1 expertly repaired. Overall a very good copy. A preliminary account of the general results of the exploring voyages of H.M.S. Challenger, during the year 1875 and the early part of the year 1876. Oceanography from Teneriffe, the British West Indies and the Gulf Stream.
