EXCEPTIONAL ANTIQUE AMERICAN QUEEN ANNE DROP-LEAF TABLE Circa 1750
In mahogany with curly maple secondary wood and a nice old finish. Wonderfully preserved with most original blocking. Nicely shaped skirt with scrolled returns. Cabriole legs ending in pad feet with almost 1 of original depth. Height 27". Length 42". Width 15" plus two 13" drop leaves.
Provenance: From a Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts estate.
According to the consignor, the table was as a wedding or housewarming gift to Hepsie Nickerson and Freeman Allen Look from the Mayhew side of the Look family, who were descendants of Martha's Vineyard's founding father, Thomas Mayhew. Descended in the family from that time.
