STERLING SILVER FIVE O'CLOCK COFFEE SPOON By Gorham in the "Narragansett" pattern, with cockleshell on handle and quahog-form bowl. First produced in 1884, this pattern was Gorham's attempt to produce a naturalistic pattern in the Rococo Revival style. "A tour de force of both design and craftsmanship, Narragansett is one of the most extraordinary flatware patterns ever created, but it is nonetheless not well known". Hood, Olson, Curb and Thompson, "The Masterpieces of Naturalism: Gorham's Narragansett Flatware". The Magazine Antiques , September 2002, page 92.
