AMES 1840 MASSACHUSETTS MILITIA PRESENTATION SWORD AND SCABBARD
Blade etched with eagle, half-sunburst, and trophy of colors. Helmet-form pommel, chainguard, mother-of-pearl grips with slight damage, and Mameluke-style crossguard. All brass scabbard etched with eagle and shield and etched Presented to Sargt. Wm. H. Saunders, by the Non-Commissioned Officers & Privates, of the Washington Light Infantry Co. K. Includes a letter detailing his service. Length of blade 31.
