ANTIQUE AMERICAN HEPPLEWHITE SECRETARY Circa 1790
Attributed to John Seymour (English/American, 1738-1818). In mahogany with select mahogany veneers used in cornice and drawer facings. Removable cornice with three brass finials, the central in eagle form, and dentil molding along lower edge. Upper case with rectangular glazed doors with mullions forming diamond-shaped lights. Lower case with removable writing desk; its top half folds out to reveal four interior drawers and a lift-top writing surface concealing an open storage compartment. Base section with two full-width drawers and tapered legs ending in spade feet. Height 83". Width 32". Depth 20.25".

Condition: Finials are period replacements. Some loss of veneer banding to top of writing surface. Hardware old replacements. Interior writing lid in need of reattachment.
