Fairhaven on September 3, 1837. She returned on September 27, 1839. The "Arab" took 417 bbls. of oil and 1,773 tons of bone. The last entry is for December 27, 1837. Included is a whale sighting and a visit to Tristan da Cunha. A fine watercolor, 10 «" x 15", is glued to two pages. It depicts a whaleship approaching a fort flying the American flag. Two other ships lie between it and the fort. This journal was probably started as a copy of a rougher journal started at sea and never finished. Twenty-four pages of text. Quarto. Calf spine as is. Marbled boards. [Illustrated].
