Payment & Collection of Purchases

We accept cash, checks, wire transfers, and major credit cards.

We reserve the right to hold goods until payment has cleared. Credit cards are not accepted for jewelry purchases and other items at our discretion.

Payment via check and money order: Please make checks payable in U.S. funds to Eldred’s, P.O. Box 796, East Dennis, MA 02641-0796.

Payment via credit card: Credit cards can only be used for up to $5,000 of the invoice total and the card must have a U.S. billing address. Credit cards are not accepted for jewelry purchases and other items at our discretion. To pay with a credit card, please call our offices Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4 p.m., at 508-385-3116.

Payment via wire transfer: Instructions will be provided to successful buyers.

A buyer’s premium will be added to the hammer price of each lot, to be paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The buyer’s premium is 28 percent of the final bid price up to and including $500,000, and 10 percent of the final bid price over $500,000. For select sales, the buyer’s premium is 26 percent of the final bid price up to and including $500,000, and 10 percent of the final bid price over $500,000

When applicable, state and local sales taxes will be added to the hammer price and buyer’s premium.

All purchases are subject to state and local sales tax unless:

• You possess a Massachusetts sales tax exemption or resale number and register that number with us.
• You are an out-of-state vendor who meets all the requirements of Massachusetts Department of Revenue GLC 64H 1(5) and Directive 89-10 and register that information with us.
• You have your purchases shipped outside the states of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and North Carolina directly from Eldred’s by a bona fide shipping agent. Important note: Items shipped to states not listed here may be subject to state and local sales tax, depending on Eldred’s compliance with each state’s nexus requirements, as per the 2018 Supreme Court ruling South Dakota v Wayfair.

Unless you meet one of the above criteria, your purchases shipped to or picked up in Massachusetts are subject to 6.25% sales tax, items shipped to or picked up in Connecticut are subject to 6.35% sales tax, and items shipped to New York and North Carolina are subject to state and local sales tax.

Please call 508-385-3116 about submitting your sales tax exemption or resale number with us. We appreciate this being done before you register to bid with Eldred’s.

To ensure the safety of your property, we request prompt removal of your purchases. All items remaining after fourteen days may be subject to a $5/per item/per day storage fee. Please note, lots will not be released to a third party without a signed release authorization.

Picking up your purchases in East Dennis, Mass.:

Please call ahead and we’ll make every effort to have your items ready. Pick-ups are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our physical address is 1483 Route 6A, East Dennis, MA 02641-0796. Our phone number is 508-385-3116.

Picking up your purchases in Mystic, Conn.:

Select items are available to pick up from our gallery in Mystic, Connecticut. To make arrangements for this, please call 508-385-3116. Our Mystic gallery is located at 5 Roosevelt Avenue, Mystic, CT 06355.

Picking up your purchases in Hanover, Mass.:

Select items are available to pick up from our gallery in Hanover, Massachusetts. To make arrangements for this, please call 508-385-3116. Our Hanover gallery is located at 155 Webster St. C2, Hanover, MA 02339.

We offer extremely limited packing and domestic shipping services directly from our gallery for select purchases, primarily small items. Our staff will determine if we can offer you in-house shipping. Given the volume and the unique nature of the lots we auction, any in-house shipping we provide can take 6 or more weeks from date of payment.

For items not eligible for in-house shipping, we can provide you a list of alternative shipping agents.
