Live Auctions: Live auctions are conducted by an auctioneer. They begin at a designated time, and lots are sold in numerical order. Some live auctions are open for in-person bidding. Online, phone and absentee bidding is always available for live auctions.
Timed Auctions: Online-only auction in which lots are open for bidding for a fixed period of time, typically two weeks. When the time runs out, the highest bidder is the winner.
In-person bidding is available for select auctions throughout the year. Please verify in-person bidding is available by checking the auction’s info page, calling our office at 508-385-3116, or emailing [email protected].
When in-person bidding is available, the auction is free to attend and is open to the public. Registration is simple and easy – just bring a photo I.D. Most of our auctions take place at our headquarters on Cape Cod, located at 1483 Route 6A, East Dennis, MA 02641. In late spring, summer and early fall, the auctions are held outdoors under a tent, so please dress accordingly.

Participate in the auction by having an Eldred’s staff member bid on your behalf.
Please submit your bids by completing our online bid form, download and submit the PDF version or email [email protected]. We ask you kindly submit your bids at least 24 hours before the auction. We have limited phone lines and requests are honored in the order in which they are received.
For absentee bids, an Eldred’s staff member will bid on your behalf, attempting to purchase the lot for you at the lowest possible price, up to the maximum you have provided.
For telephone bids, an Eldred’s staff member will call you a few minutes in advance of your lot and will bid live with you over the phone, communicating to you the activity in the room and relaying your bids to the auctioneer. We encourage all telephone bidders, especially overseas bidders and those bidding over a cell phone, to leave an “emergency/disaster” bid so that should we be unable to reach you or if the call fails, we can still bid on your behalf up to that amount.
Please carefully review your bid form for accuracy of lot numbers, phone numbers, shipping information, etc. By submitting the bid form, you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions of Sale.

Eldred’s shall not be held responsible for any failure to properly execute absentee and phone bids.
Watch the auction, leave absentee bids or bid live from your smartphone or desktop with Eldred’s Live platform and app. There are no additional fees to bid online beyond our standard buyer’s premium and applicable sales tax. All online bidding is solely at the risk of the bidder. Eldred’s shall not be held responsible for any failure to properly execute bids placed online. Online bidding is at the mercy of your internet connection.
We suggest examining items in person as much as possible by attending the auction exhibit held in the days leading up to each auction. Otherwise, review our detailed condition reports and multiple images online. Still have questions? Our specialists are happy to assist you.
To request a condition report, click on the detail page of each lot or contact us directly. Please inquire about the condition of lots prior to placing a bid. We kindly request all condition report requests be submitted at least 48 hours before the auction.
Our specialists have exercised reasonable care to catalog and describe correctly all lots, but we do not warrant the correctness of description, attribution, authenticity or condition of all lots. Eldred’s provides condition reports as a courtesy to our clients. A condition report is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact. Eldred’s holds no responsibility for any error or omission. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and the effects of normal aging. All items are sold as-is.
A buyer’s premium will be added to the hammer price of each lot, to be paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The buyer’s premium is 28 percent of the final bid price up to and including $500,000, and 10 percent of the final bid price over $500,000. For select sales, the buyer’s premium is 26 percent of the final bid price up to and including $500,000, and 10 percent of the final bid price over $500,000.
When applicable, state and local sales taxes will be added to the hammer price and buyer’s premium.
