ABERCROMBIE & FITCH BLAZER BELONGING TO WILLIAM FAULKNER Circa 1956
Blue wool blazer with red satin lining, silver buttons and pocket emblem. Signed on label inside pocket "Mr. W. Faulkner March 1956".
Provenance:
Given directly to the consignor by Malcolm Faulkner, William's stepson.

William Faulkner (1897-1962), the American writer and Nobel prize laureate celebrated particularly for his contribution to Southern literature, was also a renowned sportsman. He learned to hunt growing up in Mississippi and the tales of the outdoors inspired much of his writing. He famously disappeared for his annual week at his deer camp the day after winning the Nobel prize, frustrating the legions of reporters who were trying to interview him and antagonizing U.S. State Department officials who wanted to avoid an international insult.
