The S/S Philadelphia. Signed lower right "Antonio Jacobsen 1912 31 Palisade Ave West Hoboken N.J".
Note: The ship was originally launched in 1888 as City of Paris of the Inman Line. She held the North Atlantic speed records from 1889 to 1891 and from 1892 to 1893. She became a registered American vessel when the Inman Line was merged into the American Line in 1893. Sailing as the Yale she was used by the U.S. Navy during the Spanish-American War, famously gliding into the harbor at San Juan, Puerto Rico, under Morro Castle. After returning to civilian service she ran aground off England and was rebuilt under her new name Philadelphia. She was used as a transport during World War I and was eventually scrapped in 1923.
