The Hudson River paddlewheel steamer C.W. Morse under moonlight with her bow searchlight lit and numerous figures on deck. Signed lower right "Antonio Jacobsen West Hoboken NJ".
The C.W. Morse was a 4,300-ton steamer built by W. & A. Fletcher Co., Wilmington, Delaware. She was chartered by the U.S. Navy and placed in service in the 3rd Naval District of New York as a receiving ship during World War I. She was returned to her owners at the end of the war and finished her days on the Hudson before being scrapped in 1935.

Condition: UV light reveals no obvious retouch. Areas of craquelure. A few dots of spattered latex ceiling paint. Scattered abrasions including a few areas with some paint loss. Soiled. Needs professional restoration.
