EXCEPTIONAL COLLECTION OF PHOTOGRAPHS ASSOCIATED WITH THE AMERICA'S CUP YACHT RESOLUTE Circa 1920
The Resolute, designed and built by Nathanael Greene Herreshoff for a syndicate of New York Yacht Club members, was launched in 1914 and won the 1920 America's Cup. Includes a leather album cover with "Resolute 1920" in gilt lettering, a period handwritten list of the Resolute's crew members, and approx. forty-five silver print photographs of the Resolute's crew members and other important figures in yachting, in addition to sailing and drydock views of the yacht. Multiple photographs of Nathanael Greene Herreshoff, including an iconic portrait of him in a Herreshoff launch, are included, as is a photo of yacht manager Robert Emmons with famous sailor Sherman Hoyt, and an exceptional starboard bow view of the Resolute showing Emmons and other figures. It is believed a number of these photographs have never before been published. Eighteen prints are by Morris Rosenfeld and fifteen are by Edwin Levick, with their embossed marks lower right. Photographs mounted on black cardstock but are loose from the album. Images approx. 4" x 3" to 7.25" x 9.25".

Condition: Cover with edge wear and some deterioration. Cardstock with some edge wear, chips and creases. Photographs in generally good condition with no significant wear or damages noted. Research on the images is written on index cards and is included in the lot.
