EXCEPTIONAL SCRIMSHAW WHALE IVORY SWIFT

Elegantly and masterfully crafted, one of the finest examples we have examined, unique in its decoration and in a remarkable state of preservation. Elaborately turned yarn cup, adjustment collars and barrel-form clamp with ebony spacers and coin silver and gold metal pique inlay in organic designs, the clamp with a script "MB" surrounded by a leafy vine. Shaft with ebony banding. Ivory or bone set screws with metal fan-shaped heads adorned with pique.
Height 14.5". With custom-made stand.
Condition: Scattered age lines/cracks. Pink ribbon cage ties not original.
